It’s almost GALENTINE’S DAY!

So maybe you think Valentine’s Day is entirely too cheesy, but it’s tradition for me to get together with all of my closest gal-pals and celebrate our love for one another by eating a giant breakfast and watching the classics like “You’ve Got Mail” and “When Harry Met Sally” that no boyfriend would tolerate back to back.

I want these little critters from Anthropologie for my very own… I hope someone who loves me buys them for me for Christmas. Maybe not practical, BUT SO CUTE.

They were also in one of my gift guides that I published a few weeks ago.

They’d make a great house warming or hostess gift.

So many of my friends are graduating school and moving into places of their own… some of these things are obviously a little ritzy, but nonetheless, there are a few things here that any  person new to living on their own would appreciate.

It’s fun to find gifts for people that they’d never splurge on themselves.

It’s that time again… Putting together a few gift ideas. I know a couple girls (including myself) who’d definitely be thrilled with a few of these things.

To me, summer is all about getting together with friends and enjoying the warm weather. If I could, I’d have mine over every weekend for drinks dinner parties that extend well into the night after a long Saturday spent at the lake.

Here are a few of my favorite things for hosting an outdoor get together (especially that maxi dress from Anthropologie… so perfect!)

It’s cold and grey here in Bloomington today, and I can’t help but look forward to warmer Spring days when my friends and I can get together for a big brunch followed by a long hike and photo-venture out by the lake.
Here’s a table setting inspired by some of my favorite succulent plants.
(all of the white dinnerware is from Target and fairly inexpensive!)

Well, it doesn’t look like I’ll be going to SXSW for my spring break this year as planned, but instead I’ll be spending a few days in Chicago with my dear friend, Annie
I tried to put together something that’s comfortable enough for a chilly spring day of museum hopping, but nice enough for brunch or a happy hour drink. The white leather loafers can be easily stashed in a bag or car and swapped out when the time comes for such activities, and the bean boots are of course perfect for puddle jumping around a less than clean city like Chicago.

It’s a cold day here in Bloomington, and I’m already thinking about Spring Break.  Warm weather, sunshine, friends… Anything to escape the grey pre-spring days of the midwest.

Last year I traveled to the city of Austin for SXSW.  It was my first time there, and I felt a little under prepared for the weather.  Hot long days, and cool breezy nights.  Most of the time, your wardrobe has to be able to transition seamlessly between the two (no time to run back and change when that band you’ve been dying to see is playing on the other side of the city)

Anyway, here is my SXSW dream outfit.  An airy top, durable jeans, flat comfortable shoes, a hat and glasses to keep the sun at bay, and a notebook to keep track of what bands are playing where and when (or for phone numbers, names, etc… you meet a lot of great people at SXSW!)

I’m fairly certain I’m going back again this year, so maybe I’ll be able to pull this off!

I don’t know about you, but every year for Christmas my mom always buys me pajamas and a few things that I would never think splurge on for myself.  It’s a tradition I love. Here’s a few gift ideas if you have someone on your list who might love to lounge around the house, but wouldn’t necessarily go out and buy these things for themselves.

P.S.  I would never recommend face products that I hadn’t tried myself, and I have to say, the Aveda Botanical line is truly fantastic.  It’s what I use every day, and my skin has never looked so good (It also smells and feels great).  The minted rose lip balm is also one of my favorites.

Hope you enjoy!
